Saturday Brings An Exciting Night of Music to East Los Angeles with “Trova Nights”

Eastsiders know where to get the best pan dulce (sweet Mexican bread) in the Los Angeles area. It is at the El Gallo Bakery in East Los Angeles. The same owners opened El Gallo Café, Leche, y Té across the street located at 4545 Cesar Chavez Ave. The cafe has a mouth-watering menu featuring delicious café de la olla and about five types of  flan including chocolate and walnut.

This Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 8:30 pm the cafe presents Trova Nights. Three local troubadours,  Jorge Negrete, Esteban Leon, and Tomas Caden Tres, take turns telling stories and singing songs in Spanish. They are accompanied only by an acoustic guitar in the cafe’s elegant and intimate setting. Amazingly, admittance for this special night is free. Trova nights take place every second Saturday of the month at the cafe. Call beforehand just to make sure the show will go on.

Click on the pictures below for larger images of the cafe and the food. For the superstitious, we hope it doesn’t bug you that the building was once a mortuary.

Los Angeles is arguably one of the epic cities of the new emerging world. The east side is essentially the capital.
