Keenen Ivory Wayans in person and learn how you can make positive changes to your community at the free LANI Forum at USC

What do you like about Southern California? The weather? The diversity of the people who live here? The beach?

And what do you like about your neighborhood? The restaurants? The architecture? The history? The taco trucks?

Now, if you had a magic wand, how would you make your neighborhood better? Would you like to have healthier restaurants? How about making your community greener? Make it more bike-friendly? Maybe adding something unique to the main street?

The Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative, LANI for short, is an organization dedicated to teaching regular people how to change their communities. One of the best ways they accomplish this is through the LANI Community Forum. The LANI  Community Forum takes place at a great venue (with delicious free food) where people gather to learn, network, share ways to make our communities better.

The Sixth Annual Community Forum will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 8 am till 2:30 at the USC Davidson Conference Center.  The USC Davidson Conference Center is located at 3415 S. Figueroa Street in Los Angeles.

As a special treat, the one of our favorite screen stars, Keenen Ivory Wayans, will share his experiences as the Keynote Speaker.

Registration starts at 8. At 9, attendees are treated to a delicious breakfast while listening to the keynote talk. At 10:30, attendees go to the SESSION 1 discussion of their choice. There will be a break at noon for a light complementary lunch. At 1, the SESSION 2 workshops begin.
Some of the sessions we are looking forward to are:

  • SOLVING THE SUPERMARKET DILEMMA:
HOW TO BRING FRESH, HEALTHY GROCERIES TO YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
  • BICYCLING IN LA:
WHAT EVERY CYCLIST NEEDS TO KNOW
  • NUISANCE NO MORE:
HOW TO RID YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD OF PROBLEM BUSINESSES

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Parking is free in USC’s STRUCTURE #2, close to 3533 Flower Street.
